HOW IT WORKS : You draw up your own design or explain to us your living and housing needs so we may draft a base layout that suits you. We will review your drawing then further discuss how it could be built. There will be a one time fee of $150 by means of PayPal or cashier's check. (This service is different from the blueprint service we offer). After we have drawn a base layout, we will then develop a time schedule for the build, draft a contract and there will be a retainer fee of 2% of the estimated build price. The retainer payment will then be applied to your custom build when it begins.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO BUILD: This depends on the size, material and amenities, but generally speaking the tiny models take between 4 to 6 weeks. The medium sized models take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks. The large models take anywhere from 10 to 14 weeks. Although these are rough estimations, houses have been known to be built much faster depending on differing variables.
PRICING: The price of your custom build can vary depending on the size, materials, man hours and amenities. Please refer to the our models page to get a general idea of how the pricing based on size works. Unlike our pre-designed models, custom builds require a fully detailed estimate which can take time, thus a $250 fee will be requested for the estimate and base layout. (Keep in mind base layout is very different from the detailed blueprint service).
HOW DID TEX WEST COME TO THAT PRICE? : You may hear, "look at this tiny house built for only 28 thousand dollars." What they do not disclose to you is that it took a couple over a year to build and the said number is only the price of materials. There are obvious financial advantages to building your own tiny house, but as one could imagine it takes a lot of time, expertise, knowledge to do it safely and it requires a large set of building skills. So lets say you decide its worth it to hire a professional builder to build your tiny house; the builder in order to operate must pay his/her carpenters, electrician, plumber, designer and charge a standard home construction profit to stay in business. To operate a tiny house company there are certain expenses that must be paid; space to rent, utilities, insurance, taxes, various government fees, tools, supplies, accounting, office hours, time and the list goes on. So suffice to say there may be more to it then some may originally think to building their own tiny house. That's where we come in. We will build your tiny house in a timely manner, with all the expertise and skill to build you a beautiful house you can feel safe hauling down the highway to anywhere your life may take you.
